Hope For Healing in the 21st Century: Grassroots in Action

By Beth Lambert, Executive Producer, The Documenting Hope Project

At Documenting Hope, we love our volunteers!

A number of months ago, I was contacted by an energetic and enthusiastic integrative health coach in Illinois. She had come across the Documenting Hope Project and wanted to get involved and help support the work. Meet Tamara Ortegel. Tamara is a graduate of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and a mother of three children, two of whom have battled Crohn’s disease. Once Tamara learned about our mission and the work we intend to complete, she got right to work herself. Tamara has been volunteering as a Documenting Hope community leader in Naperville, Illinois, helping to bring our message of hope as well as healing resources to the parents and caregivers in her community.

Tamara’s latest efforts to spread the word and share resources have culminated in an exciting two day conference, Hope for Healing in the 21st Century, to be held on November 13th and 14th 2015 at the DePaul University Naperville Campus in Naperville, Illinois. Integrative Health Practitioners and Experts from around the area will be presenting on a variety of important topics relevant to preventing and reversing chronic health conditions. We are all so excited for this unique event. See below to learn more about our speakers and topics.Naperville Event

This is how the change happens. This is grassroots in action. If we expect to see broad and meaningful changes to the habits and lifestyles that precipitate illness, we must begin by working at a grassroots, cultural level, through education, awareness, and organization. Thank you, Tamara, for your hard work to bring these educational resources to your community.
