In order to assess any child’s “total load,” it is critical to perform an inventory of products and materials in the home. Josie Nelson, Programs Director, and Beth Lambert, Executive Director, performed a Home Inventory for Ty’s family, cataloging what types of personal care, cleaning, household products and food are in the family’s home. The team is looking to identify any potential products that contain chemicals or contaminants that would need to be removed in order to help Ty reduce his exposure to anything harmful or stressful for his body.
The team looked at things like toothpaste, oils and spices, laundry detergent, cleaning products, soaps and shampoos, pots and pans and more. For more information about how to find safe, non-toxic products of all types for your family, be sure to visit madesafe.org
MADE SAFE® is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive human health and ecosystem-focused certification for nontoxic products across store aisles, from baby to personal care to household and beyond. MADE SAFE® tests apparel, cleaning products, personal care products, pet products, bedding, products for babies and more.
A thorough inventory enabled our team to identify some products that could swapped out for safer products donated by non-toxic home product companies. One of the first products donated to our FLIGHT™ family was a safe, non-toxic mattress made by Naturepedic.
Other safe, non-toxic products donated to FLIGHT™ families include: Meliora, Lumineaux, Branch Basics, and JustNaturals.
